Ancient Hindu Scriptures are an ocean of knowledge. They teach us how to live and how not to live a life. Let's dive together to find some pearls of knowledge from our ancient scriptures. We can enhance our knowledge just by sharing it. I am taking 'Garg Samhita' as my first text to read and share the summary according to my understanding and my views on this sacred text of Radha Krishna, the Divine bond of the divinity itself. Readers' views and an addition to my knowledge are most welcome.

Garg Samhita-Birth of Lord Krishna

The divine arrival of Krishna

In the dark of night, when the world was asleep, the Supreme Personality of Godhead—greater than the greatest—entered the heart of Vasudeva and the womb of Devaki. A radiant glow surrounded them, and even the wicked Kaṁsa trembled in fear:
"The destroyer of my life has come!"

In that sacred moment, the universe paused. The stars aligned. The demigods bowed in reverence.
In the quiet stillness of Bhadra month, under a rising moon, Sri Krishna was born—not as a helpless infant, but as the dazzling Lord of the cosmos, adorned with divine jewels, a lotus garland, and a smile that outshone millions of Cupids.

Vasudeva, guided by Yogamaya, carried the Lord across the roaring Yamuna, protected by Ananta Shesa, while the storm bent before them. In Gokula, he exchanged the divine child with Yashoda's newborn daughter.

When Kamsa tried to kill that infant girl, she transformed into a celestial goddess and thundered:
"He who will end you is already born!"

Terrified and repentant, Kamsa begged forgiveness from Vasudeva and Devaki. Yet fear gripped him, and he summoned demons like Pralambhasura, commanding them to kill all infants and destroy everything related to dharma—brahmanas, cows, and Vedas—believing that harming Vishnu’s limbs would weaken Him.

The demons, shape-shifting and cruel, spread across the earth like serpents, slaughtering innocents. But even their terror could not stop the divine plan of Lord Krishna, who had already descended to protect dharma and vanquish .

But how can darkness ever overcome the One who is the source of all light?

Thus began the divine play (lila) of Shri Krishna—Protector of dharma, destroyer of evil, and the heart of eternal love.

Author's view

"The Night of Krishna's Birth: Breaking All Norms"

"The divine birth of Sri Krishna, as beautifully described by Sage Garga in the Garga Saṁhitā, breaks all worldly conventions right from the beginning. His appearance is not just a joyous event for Devaki and Vasudeva, but also a moment of intense fear for Kamsa. This contrast—between divine bliss and demonic fear—forms the heart of the unfolding divine play (lila).

Kamsa’s inner conflict is profound. Though he feels remorse, it is overpowered by his fear—fear of death, fear of destiny, and fear of the unknown. And that fear pushes him to commit greater sins. This is the subtle work of divinity: to lead even the most powerful tyrant swiftly toward his end, not by force, but through the very force of his own mind."
