Ancient Hindu Scriptures are an ocean of knowledge. They teach us how to live and how not to live a life. Let's dive together to find some pearls of knowledge from our ancient scriptures. We can enhance our knowledge just by sharing it. I am taking 'Garg Samhita' as my first text to read and share the summary according to my understanding and my views on this sacred text of Radha Krishna, the Divine bond of the divinity itself. Readers' views and an addition to my knowledge are most welcome.

Garg Samhita- Liberation of Demon Utkacha

Chapter 14

The Ceremony and Krishna’s Innocence

During one of the sacred birth ceremonies of Lord Krishna in Gokula, Mother Yashoda dressed her divine child in radiant red silk adorned with golden ornaments. She gently applied black anjana to His lotus eyes—an age-old charm for protection—and placed Him in a decorated cradle, full of maternal love.

As the courtyard buzzed with guests and celebrations, Yashoda became absorbed in hosting duties, unaware that Krishna had begun crying softly.

The Arrival of Utkacha

At that very moment, the demon Utkacha, born with a body made of air, entered the scene. Sent by Kamsa to kill Krishna, Utkacha approached a large wooden cart near the cradle, intending to topple it onto the infant.

But the three-month-old Krishna, in a miraculous act, gently kicked the cart with His tender red foot—and it shattered into pieces.

The Demon Is Liberated

The crash was more than physical. Utkacha, expelled from his airy form, was instantly purified. Receiving the divine touch of Krishna's foot, he gained a spiritual body. With folded hands, he bowed to Lord Hari and ascended to Goloka, the eternal realm of the Lord.

The Gopas Are Stunned

King Nanda and the Gopas, startled by the loud sound, ran to the spot. The nearby children explained, “Baby Krishna kicked the cart!”

But how could anyone believe that a tiny infant caused such destruction? Fearing something evil, Mother Yashoda cradled her son tightly. To protect Him, she offered prayers and had the Brahmanas perform a sacred yajña.

The Curse and Its Resolution

When King Bahulashva asked about Utkacha’s past, Sage Narada narrated:

“Utkacha was once the son of the demon Hiranyaksha. In pride, he vandalized Sage Lomasha’s hermitage. The enraged sage cursed him to become bodiless. But upon Utkacha’s repentance, Lomasha softened the curse—he would be born with a body of air and would receive liberation through Lord Krishna’s foot in Dvapara Yuga.”

Author's view

If even a demon cursed to be bodiless can find liberation through a single touch from Krishna, what hope lies in the sincere heart that calls His name?

Let us remember that Krishna’s mercy flows not just toward the saintly, but even toward the fallen—transforming their fate through divine love.

As every Hindu spiritual text emphasizes, the ultimate goal is liberation. This goal is not limited to human beings alone. I believe anyone can attain liberation, regardless of their identity, simply by remembering the Divine name—even if it is taken in a negative sense. The Divine is so compassionate that blessings are bestowed even upon the fallen.
Even the cursed are purified in Krishna’s presence. Let your soul cry like a child—and He will surely lift you.”

What do you think-

Is there always a sacred boon behind the veil of a curse? Or you think different?
Would love to hear your point of view.....
