Ancient Hindu Scriptures are an ocean of knowledge. They teach us how to live and how not to live a life. Let's dive together to find some pearls of knowledge from our ancient scriptures. We can enhance our knowledge just by sharing it. I am taking 'Garg Samhita' as my first text to read and share the summary according to my understanding and my views on this sacred text of Radha Krishna, the Divine bond of the divinity itself. Readers' views and an addition to my knowledge are most welcome.

Garg Samhita- Trinavrata’s Liberation & The Sacred Naming of Krishna and Balarama

Chapter 14: Trinavrata – A Demon Liberated by Divine Touch

In this chapter, the Garga Saṁhitā narrates the mysterious liberation of Trinavrata, a demon sent to kill little Krishna. But behind this fearful form was a deeper truth.

Trinavrata was once a benevolent king in his previous life. However, due to a moment of arrogance, he disrespected sage Durvasa, who then cursed him to become a demon. Later, realizing his mistake, the king begged forgiveness. The compassionate sage modified the curse, blessed him that Lord Krishna Himself would liberate him.

True to this divine arrangement, when Trinavrata attacked Krishna in demonic form, the Lord effortlessly defeated him—granting him moksha (liberation) and restoring him to his original, purified state. This story reaffirms the truth that even the fallen can be uplifted by the Lord’s mercy.

Chapter 15: The Sacred Naming Ceremony & Divine Identities Revealed

This chapter opens with a joyous occasion in Gokula—the naming ceremony of Krishna and Balarama. At Vasudeva’s request, Sage Garg visited Nanda Maharaja’s home. Nanda and Yashoda welcomed the sage with deep reverence and requested him to name their sons—one born to Queen Rohini, and the other raised by Queen Yashoda.

Sage Garg not only gave them names, but also revealed their divine identities and the purpose of their descent to Earth, but in private.

The Meaning of Krishna’s Name

Garg Muni explained the hidden meanings behind the name Krishna:

K stands for Kamalā-Kānta – the beloved of Lakshmi.

R stands for Rāma – the supreme enjoyer.

S symbolizes Ṣaḍ-Guṇa-Pati – the master of six opulences.

N denotes Narasimha.

A refers to Akṣara (the imperishable) .

H represents Nara-Nārāyaṇa Rishi.

Thus, Krishna’s name embodies purity, power, and divine presence across all universes.

He also revealed the meaning of the name Vāsudeva (another name of Lord Krishna) :

Vāsu means the senses; Deva means the indweller of the heart. Krishna, who resides in the hearts and senses of all beings, is called Vāsudeva.

The Meaning of Balarama’s Name

Sage Garg said:

Because yogis rejoice in Him, He is Rāma.

Since He was transferred (Saṅkarṣaṇa) from Devaki’s womb to Rohini’s, He is called Saṅkarṣaṇa.

As He remains when the universe is destroyed, He is Śeṣa.

Because of His immense strength, He is also known as Bala.

Sri Radha – The Eternal Goddess of Fortune

After completing the ceremony, Sage Garg visited King Vrishbhanu, the father of Sri Radha. With humility, the king asked the sage about the destined consort for his divine daughter. Garg Muni revealed the highest truth:

"Your daughter, Sri Radha, is the eternal and supreme consort of Lord Krishna. They are one soul in two forms—inseparable for eternity."

Hearing this, King Vrishbhanu was overwhelmed with tears of joy and love. He humbly requested the sage to perform the divine couple’s marriage. But Sage Garg replied that Lord Brahma himself would perform their wedding at the destined time. With this revelation, the sage departed, leaving behind hearts filled with divine joy.

Author's view:

What appears to be simple childhood events—the killing of a demon, or a naming ceremony—are, in fact, divine interventions with cosmic purposes. The Garga Samhita gently unveils the truth that Krishna, Balarama, and Radha are not ordinary beings but the eternal forms of divinity who uplift, redeem, and bless the world with their leelas.

I always feel how would one react if he gets to know that his/her child is nit ordinary being but a divine who chose you as his parents.
How shall you react if you get to know that you are blessed with a divine child?
One more question I want to ask...
Do you believe names carry spiritual energy or divine connection?
I really believe that names carry spiritual energy. The name should be meaningful, if it is given to a newborn. Meaningful and divine names always carry a positive energy even if you just call it unconsciously. How do you feel if you chant Radha or Krishna or Radhe Krishna.
Will wait for your response.....
