Garg Samhita, Mathura-khanda
Liberation of Vakasura and Aghasura
As the people of Vraja settled into the peaceful groves of Vrindavana, Krishna and Balarama spent their days joyfully grazing the calves with their friends. Yet Kamsa’s fear continued to send danger toward the divine playground of the Lord.
Vakasura
Vakasura, the fierce crane demon and brother of Putana, entered Vraja with the intention to kill Krishna. Taking the form of a giant crane, he suddenly swooped down and swallowed the young Lord. But Krishna, untouched by fear, expanded His divine presence. The demon’s beak split apart, and Vakasura fell lifeless—his soul instantly liberated by Krishna’s touch.
Aghasura
Soon after, Aghasura arrived, assuming the form of a massive serpent. Mistaking his open mouth for a cave, the cowherd boys walked right in. Krishna followed them, protecting them from within. When the serpent tried to trap everyone, Krishna expanded Himself, causing Aghasura’s body to burst open. The demon’s soul rose and merged into Krishna, receiving moksha.
Author's View
Both Vakasura and Aghasura came with deadly intentions, yet they attained liberation simply through contact with Krishna.
His protection is effortless, and His compassion is limitless.
For His devotees, this teaches a gentle truth:
No force of darkness can overcome the one who is sheltered by Krishna’s love.
Radhe Radhe...
